Organic blue agave nectar is a liquid sweetening agent that is produced from the blue agave plant in Central Mexico. If you are health-conscious and like to avoid the intake of conventional sugar but at the same time have a sweet tooth, agave syrup is your perfect mate. It is primarily marketed in three varieties- light, amber, and raw.

Tips to Choose the Perfect Organic Blue Agave Nectar

The difference among the three nectars lies according to usage, taste, and production. Agave nectar is raw and doesn’t involve pasteurization. Light agave nectar is prepared with less heat, and amber has the most intense flavors. However, there are other important points to consider before choosing the perfect agave nectar for you. We have compiled this blog with some basic points for your better understanding of these three varieties.

As a component of the Amaryllis family, organic blue agave plants lay out runners from their mother plant and have slower growth. These runners are then garnered, planted separately, and cultivated. Organic agave is filtered without any chemical moderation and is purely natural and healthy. This syrup-like liquid is more refined and is less sticky than honey. Added to that, agave syrup can not only be used in dishes like pancakes (toppings) and barbeques (sauce), but it also goes perfectly well with cold beverages such as milkshakes and cold coffee.

Classification:

1.Light Agave Nectar

Prepared with less heat, it has a mild flavor that is exquisitely used in intricate tasting desserts and drinks. All the colors and flavors of light agave nectar are extracted naturally, and thus, they enhance the taste of the dishes without altering the original flavor. Unlike other organic sweetener substitutes and bee honey that changes flavors when used, it is widely applied in baked goods, salads, and hot cereals due to its neutral and delicate flavor.

2.Raw Blue Agave

Raw blue agave nectar is a liquid sweetener with a toasty brown sugar taste, manufactured at a temperature below 115°F. Organic blue agave plants take 6-8 months to produce the raw nectar which is then processed and transferred to containers. The presence of Iron, Calcium, Potassium, and Magnesium provides the final color.

3.Amber Agave Nectar

With a light caramel taste, amber agave syrup is less refined as compared to light agave. It contains the lowest glycemic index and is ideal for people who have diabetes or want to maintain a low blood sugar level. You can add it with pancakes, waffles, and protein drinks to bring out a soft flavor.

It gives a hint of vanilla aroma with a taste of maple syrup on the palate. Due to its medium intensity and distinct dark color, they go perfectly with seafood dishes as well as desserts.

Refrigeration and shelf life: As organic blue agave nectar syrups are organic in nature and don’t contain any chemical ingredient, they can be stored for at least 12 months once opened. The color and steadiness stay unchanged, and it is best to keep them at room temperature.

Conclusion: Consumption of excessive sugar can cause a lot of harm to your body. So, bid normal sugar adieu and start using organic sweeteners. Now, agave nectars can be your perfect choice as they are not only organic but also have a great taste and flavor.
